Mini Stocks in a 50 lap feature tomorrow at Peterborou­gh Speedway

It’s a special year of action at Peterborou­gh Speedway, as the Mount Pleasant Road venue celebrates its 50th anniversar­y aeason.

Throughout the 2017 schedule, the track’s weekly divisions will each run a 50-lap main event and on Saturday the Jiffy Lube Mini Stocks will take their turn in the spotlight, in a show that will also features the Battlefiel­d Equipment 4Fun, Thunder Car, Organics & Glass Late Model and Ontario Modifieds Racing Series classes.

Track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse says that even with just three shows in the books, its already proving to be an exciting season.

“Our promotiona­l team has put together a variety of special events with a 50th Anniversar­y theme for fans and race teams,” Josiasse said. “We’re looking forward to a great year and so far, our car counts have been great and fans have seen some excellent racing in all 5 of our weekly divisions and our guest classes. We’ll keep working hard and put our best effort into everything we do throughout the season.”

For Saturday, pit gates will open at 3 p.m., with the general admission grandstand­s unlocked at 5 p.m. and the night’s first green flag at 6 p.m.

Looking ahead to June 17, the APC Pro Late Model Tour returns, along with the home track Battlefiel­d Equipment Rental 4Fun, Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck and Thunder Car divisions.

The Chase for the Colours Pole Qualifying event is July 2 and Country 105 presents the MidSummer Bash – with a 50 lap Thunder Car main event – on July 22. The Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series comes back Aug. 12. All special events include selected weekly racing classes.
