Harriman was making a return to rowing after not being on the water for quite some time. She prepared by cross-country skiing and indoor rowing.

“Normally I am on the water at the end of March, but not this year, it didn’t happen,” Harriman told Pique News Magazine. “I left April 20 and the lake was still frozen in Whistler.”

She plans to continue rowing over the summer, including at her Anstruther Lake cottage in North Kawartha Township.

She plans to return to competition for the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston on Oct. 21 and 22. She is a past gold medallist there.
