City men improve to 3-0

After failing to win a game for the past two seasons, the Peterborou­gh City men’s soccer team improves to 3-0 this season with a hard fought 4-3 win over Pana 2.0 Friday night at Eastgate Memorial Park. Anthony Torres and Josh Elgeti staked City to a 2-0 lead. Derek Aspeck scored late in the first half to make it 3-1 and he added another in the second half to make it 4-2. Pana scored two of its goals on penalty kicks. City goalie Sam Barratt was named Man of the Match. Peterborou­gh hosts Scarboroug­h Azzurri 9 p.m. Friday at Eastgate. Also in OSL Central East Region action, new entry Cavan FC improved to 2-0 by defeating Toronto Elites 2-1 Friday night at the Fleming Sports Field Complex. Marlon Adams and Josh Penello scored for Cavan. Their next home game is 8:30 p.m. Friday against Toronto Skillz. The first ever meeting between Peterborou­gh City and Cavan FC is 8:30 p.m. June 30 at Fleming.
