Trent to host open house for Excalibur campers

Trent Excalibur Camp is hosting an open house for new, returning and prospectiv­e campers tomorrow from 6 until 8 p.m. Come out and learn about the camp. There will be opportunit­ies to experience some camp programmin­g and to meet some of the camp staff. The Trent Excalibur Camp (TEC), an accredited day camp located at Trent University, provides programmin­g for children and youth from the ages of five to 11. TEC is also a member of the Ontario Camping Associatio­n.

This summer the camp celebrates 25 years. Also, new this summer is a satellite camp in Lakefield at the Lakefield Community Centre, offering one week programs throughout the summer months.

Infant massage

Play Café, located at Brook dale Plaza on Chemong Rd. is offering a handson Infant Massage Workshop, suitable for infants newborn to crawling, Tuesday from 10 a.m. until noon.

Certified Infant Massage instructor Sonja Martin of Rooted Lavender will guide participan­ts in a full body massage routine. Special attention will be focused on support for colic and gas, as well as adaptation­s for newborns and toddlers. Infant massage techniques may support sleep, digestion, growth and connection. Singing and discussion are incorporat­ed into the class. The cost is $20 plus HST. Songs, oil, and handout are included. Please bring extra clothing and a soft blanket for baby. Preregistr­ation is required.

Celebrate Canada’s 150th on the Stoney Lake Trails with Peter borough Field Naturalist­s Sunday, June 25.

This full day of activities takes places on the Stoney Lakes Trails that were developed by Ralph Ingleton. The trails run through the Kawartha Land Trust properties on the north shore of Stoney Lake and extend onto other lands including the Viamede Resort. Participat­es can take part in the morning activity and/or one of the afternoon outings. A social at the Boathouse Restaurant of Viamede Resort follows at 4 p.m.

The morning activity at 8 a.m. is birding with Martin Parker, along the north shore of Stoney Lake. Participan­ts should meet at 7:30 a.m. in the parking lot at the Peterborou­gh Zoo for carpooling or meet at the Ingleton-Wells parking lot on Reid Road for the event. Bring a packed lunch if you intend to stay for the afternoon sessions.

The afternoon events begin at 1 p.m. and offer three trip choices: Butterflie­s of the Stoney Lake Meadow with Gerry Ball; Trails of the KLT Ingelton-Wells and North Stoney Lake with Evan Thomas; or Vernal Pools of KLT Ingelton-Wells Reserve with Sue Paradisis. All afternoon trips begin at the public parking area on the shores of Stoney Lake beside Viamede Resort at the southern end of Mt. Julian Viamede Road.

FREE CONCERT: Trefoil will perform jazz/pop/swing/classics Sunday in the gazebo at the Riverview Park and Zoo Sunday from 3 until 5 p.m., weather permitting. This concert is part of the summer concert series sponsored by the Peterborou­gh Utilities Services, held every other week until September. Bring your own lawn chair.
