Summer fun for kids at Hutchison House
Hutchison House Museum, 270 Brock St., is offering Summer Workshops for Children. These workshops are an alternative to full time camp programs and run Wednesday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Cost is $15 per child and pre-registration is required. These workshops are appropriate for children ages 6 to 12.
The first workshop runs this Wednesday and children will be making dream catchers. On July 19, the theme of the workshop is Teddy Bears and children will cut, sew and decorate their own teddy bear. Stained Glass is the focus of the workshop on July 26 and participants will use plastic and paint to create their own stained glass fridge magnets. On Aug. 2, children will learn about Fairy Gardens, which were popular in the Victorian era, and create their own fantastical woodland village using natural and recycled materials. On Aug. 19, children will create their own hand crafted journal. The final workshop runs Aug. 23 and gives children the opportunity to try their hand at making their own tin can lanterns and beeswax candles.
