Thanks to all who took part in tournament

-

Our hearts are filled with gratitude when we say many thanks to all who participated in the Community Golf tournament benefiting Shared Dreams for Independent Living.

Located in Peterborough, Shared Dreams for Independent Living is a newly formed non profit organization, founded by five families who share the common gift of raising a son who lives with the effects of a development and/or physical challenges. The goal of the organization is to support their 5 sons, and ultimately many individuals in Peterborough to live in a home of their choice as they make the natural progression to adulthood.

On June 13, several members of our Peterborough Community showed just how engaged they are in our project. They showed us how they believe in us and our goal.

These community enthusiasts support and understand that collectively, we can provide opportunities that will support our son’s and many more to remain “the authority of their own life” while making a choice about their future home in Peterborough.

Over 60 members of our community planned, organized, donated, sponsored and played in the Shared Dreams for Independent Living Golf Tournament hosted by Kevin, Wayne and the amazing team at Kawartha Golf and Country Club. It was a fantastic event, the proceeds of which have gone a long way in helping our organization realize our dreams.

The five young men of Shared Dreams have grown up in Peterborough surrounded by its riches. They have made lifetime friendships, connections and are often known by name pretty much everywhere they go in the city. In return, they weave their unique skills, talents and good nature into the fabric of our great community.

Community awareness and engagement is the backbone to developing and sustaining opportunities for choice for these wonderful members of our city. On June 13, a spotlight was glowing on the Kawartha Golf and Country Club and all the incredible people of Peterborough who heard about our project and was inspired to be a part of developing “opportunities” for everyone in Peterborough to have a choice where and with whom they live.

Thank you to all who made this day an absolute success!

Sincerely,

Christine Cannon Board president Shared Dreams for Independent Living www.shareddreams.ca
