Peterborough Rowing Club rower Trevor Jones, of Burleigh Falls, finished 14th overall in a 32-man field in the men’s single sculls in his World Rowing Cup debut with Team Canada.

Jones, 19, a student at Trent University where he is coached by Carol Love, moved up from fourth at the half to finish second in the C Final on Saturday in a time of 07:03:87 in the 2000 m event in a field of veterans.

He has also been named to Team Ontario for the Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg from July 31 to Aug. 4.

Moffatt, 24, and Gleadow competed in the lightweight women’s double sculls repechage Saturday, hoping to advance to Sunday’s A Final. With a quick start off the line, Gleadow and Moffatt exchanged second place with Switzerland until the final 500 metres.

They crossed the line in third place in a time of 07:11.910, just missing a spot in the top-six A Final. They will race in the B Final on Sunday at 9:35 a.m. (Lucerne time).
