Brown holding rally at The Venue tonight
Ontario Progressive Conservative Leader Patrick Brown is holding a free rally Thursday night at The Venue in Peterborough.
It’s all part of a tour of 20 ridings that Brown is making, ahead of the 2018 provincial election.
Earlier this week, Brown was in London, Burlington, Kingsville and Windsor.
He’s expected at The Venue on George St. for a rally from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
The idea is to invite supporters and the public to come meet the PC leader and hear him speak.
At a similar rally earlier this week in London, Ont., Brown had harsh words about the current provincial government.
“Life is harder under the Liberals,” Brown was quoted as saying in The London Free Press.
He went on to speak of Premier Kathleen Wynne’s “legacy” of soaring hydro costs for Ontarians, and the lack of progress on infrastructure projects recently.
“As much as this government talks about infrastructure, we’re not seeing it,” Brown said. “Look at the promises they have made and the promises they have broken.”
Brown was last in Peterborough on Feb. 1, when he spoke to local farmers about how they are dealing with the high cost of hydro.
The local PC provincial riding hasn’t had a nomination meeting yet, in anticipation of the provincial election. That election is taking place on June 7, 2018.
So far, three men have come forward to seek the Progressive Conservative nomination, for Peterborough-Kawartha riding:
Derek Andreoli, 31, a mechanical engineer at BWXT Nuclear Energy in Peterborough.
Ryan Moore, 38, an autoparts sales representative with NAPA Canada and President of the Peterborough Agricultural Society.
Dave Smith, 47, manager of product development at Cardinal Software in Peterborough and founder of the Under the Lock hockey tournament.
