Three Kawartha Golf and Country Club golfers advanced to Thursday’s third round of Golf Ontario’s Investors Group Men’s Amateur Championsh­ip at the Ambassador Golf Club in Windsor.

Sam Meek, the 2016 Canadian junior men’s champion, moved up the ranks in Wednesday’s second round with a three-under round and is in an eight-way tie for 13th place at 71-68--139.

Mathew Stevens was one over Wednesday to sit in an eight-way tie for 42nd at 72-72--144.

Disaster befell Andrew Crampton. After sitting tied for third after Tuesday’s first round, Crampton went seven over to finish in a 14-way tie for 50th, scraping into the third round, at 67-78--145.

Former NHLer Marc Savard did not make the cut, finishing at 76-77--153.

Concord’s Unionville’s John Foster, Max Sear and Aurora’s Shyamal Nagindas share the lead after the second round at 134, five strokes ahead of Meek.

The cut was set at three-over (145) and 63 players advanced to the final two rounds. The third round begins Thursday at 7:30 a.m. with the final group scheduled to tee off at 10:50 a.m.
