Peterborough’s Sam Meek of the Kawartha Golf and Country Club is tied for 11th heading into the final day of Golf Ontario’s Investors Group Ontario Men’s Amateur Championship at the Ambassador Golf Club.
Meek, the 2016 Canadian junior men’s champion who is entering his sophomore year as a student-athlete at Southern Illinois University, went one under in the third round on Thursday to sit 71-68-70--209, four strokes behind leader Marc Lefebvre, of the West Haven Golf and Country Club, at 67-69-69-205.
Matthew Stevens of the Kawartha Golf and Country Club continued his steady play at the tournament with an even round Thursday to sit in a five-way tie for 33rd at 72-72-71--215.
Andrew Crampton of the Kawartha Golf and Country Club, who was tied for third after the opening round, is tied for 62nd at 67-78-78--223 heading into Friday’s final round. Peterborough’s Sam Meek competes Tuesday at the Ontario Men’s Amateur Championship at the Ambassador Golf Club in Windsor.
