Rinaldi acclaimed
Lou Rinaldi was acclaimed Thursday night as the Liberal candidate for the 2018 provincial election for the new Northumberland-Peterborough South riding, which includes Asphodel-Norwood and Otonabee-South Monaghan townships and Hiawatha First Nation in Peterborough County. The current Liberal MPP for the Northumberland-Quinte West riding has more than 25 years in politics and has previously served as aI councillor, deputy reeve, reeve and mayor. Rinaldi is the Ontario Liberal caucus chairman and parliamentary assistant to Municipal Affairs Minister Bill Mauro. “I’m delighted to be acclaimed as the Ontario Liberal Party Candidate for Northumberland— Peterborough South. I look forward to continuing the hard work and delivering for the residents of Northumberland and now the eastern portion of Clarington, Otonabee—South Monaghan, Hiawatha First Nation and Asphodel-Norwood,” Rinaldi stated. “I know this position is a privilege and it has been my honour to serve the constituents of Northumberland-Quinte West for over a decade. It would be my distinct pleasure to serve the constituents of the new riding of Northumberland—Peterborough South as their first MPP,” said Lou Rinaldi. Rinaldi is a small business owner, co-founder of the Brighton Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the Quinte West Economic Development Corporation and a Rotarian. He is running for re-election with a goal of working to deliver economic growth, reliable health care and high-quality public education.
