City input for 2041

-

By the year 2041, the city is expected to grow to a population of 115,000 people and 58,000 jobs – an increase of about 32,000 people and 10,000 jobs from 2016. To complete a vision of how the city will look and function in the year 2041, the city is inviting residents and interested parties to provide comments on the vision and guiding principles of the Official Plan. With the city expected to be home to 115,000 people by 2041, the city is looking ahead to how it will function. That increase of 32,000 people would bring the city’s jobs total to 58,000, city staff say. A new survey is aimed at gathering comments on the vision and guiding principles for the city’s new Official Plan. That survey will be available until Sept. 20 at www.peterborough.ca/planit. “Peterborough’s updated Official Plan will guide growth and development for our city to the year 2041. It will influence the physical, social and economic landscape of our community. Engaging residents and community stakeholders on the vision and guiding principles will help direct other key aspects of the plan,” Mayor Daryl Bennett stated in a city press release. The survey draws from what city staff heard from community members during the development of the first phase of the Official Plan update. It can be seen online at www.peterborough.ca/planit. For more information or to fill out the survey in a different way (on paper, for instance), call 705-7427777 ext. 1494 or email planit@ peterborough.ca.
