Trialdates­setin sexual assault case

Trial dates have been set in the case of a local realtor charged with sexual assault.

Alket Kulla, of Rogers St., was charged March 1 after a local woman in her 30s alleged he sexually assaulted her at a city home on Feb. 20.

His case was last addressed in Peterborou­gh Ontario Court of Justice for judicial pretrial–a hearing involving lawyers from both sides and a judge that generally aims to resolve legal issues before a trial begins – last Wednesday before Justice John Payne.

Trial dates were then scheduled for April 4 to 6 and 27, while as tatu shearing, an informal discussion involving the same parties that attempts to resolve a case without it going to trial, was scheduled for Feb. 21.

K ulla is being represente­d by city defence lawyer Dave McFadden. The first court date for the city realtor, property owner and developer was March 23. The matter was also in court May 18 and 31, June 14, July 18 and Aug. 2.

Preliminar­y hearing scheduled

Preliminar­y hearing dates have been scheduled for the three adult co-accused charged in connection with the killing of Terry P ring le ,42, who was found dead of blunt force trauma in his Stewart St. apartment on Nov. 26.

Six people, including two teenaged boys, were arrested three days later.

Jordan Osborne, 25, of Aylmer St, faces charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

Joseph Crawford ,29, of Dalhousie St ., faces charges of accessory after the fact to murder and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

Christophe­r Bolton, 30, of Bethune St ., faces charges of accessory after the fact to murder and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

A preliminar­y hearing, which determines if there is sufficient evidence to set the matter down for trial before a Superior Court judge, has been scheduled for Nov. 27 to Dec. 1, Dec. 6 and Dec. 11 to 15 in Peterborou­gh Ontario Court of Justice.

The three co-accused are also scheduled to return to court Oct. 27 for a status hearing.

A 17-year-old who was 16 at the time of the killing also faces a first-degree murder charge, while a 16-year-old who was 15 faces charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Their names cannot be published under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Both are next scheduled to appear in court Sept. 6 for continuing pretrial.

Samantha Hall, 26, admitted to planning the attack as she pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit an indictable offence causing bodily harm on Aug. 23.

Hall will be sentenced Oct. 31 at 2:15 p.m. A pre-sentence report, a report on her history that will help Madam Justice Esther Rosenberg dec idea sentence, will be prepared in the meantime.
