Pattinson’s Saved by the Bell connection

Actor lived with Dustin Diamond at beginning of career

-

Robert Pattinson has revealed that he lived with Saved by the Bell star Dustin Diamond when he first moved to Los Angeles.

The 31-year-old has since starred in the Twilight film franchise, as well as the movies Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Water for Elephants. His newest film is the crime-drama Good Time, from directors Benny and Josh Safdie. But when he first tried to make a name for himself in Hollywood, Pattinson moved into the Oakwood apartments in Burbank, Calif., — temporary housing for those trying to pursue show business careers.

Calling in to the radio show

On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Thursday, Pattinson told Seacrest of their first meeting: “I met you when I literally had first moved there. So that was the first time I met you I think.

“When I met you, I was still living in the Oakwood apartments. I was with Screech, Dustin Diamond. I loved it. I really miss it,” he said with a laugh.

“Dustin was the first person to introduce me to Hot Pockets!” Pattinson added, revealing he fell in love with the microwaveable sandwiches there and then.

But Pattinson wasn’t the only one to have had a random Saved by

the Bell connection: Seacrest used to live across the street from Mario Lopez, who played A.C. Slater in the teen TV show, which aired from 1989 to 1992.

“We may have talked about it (before) but when I first moved here, I lived in the apartments just down the street from the Oakwoods and guess who lived across the street from me? Mario Lopez! Slater!” Seacrest said. “So all of us start with the Saved by the Bell cast and we try and grow from there.”

In 2015, Diamond was sentenced to four months in prison for allegedly pulling out a switchblade knife during a bar altercation in which a man was stabbed in 2014. He served three months in jail and was released on probation, but he was arrested again weeks later for violating it.

Other stars to have lived in the Oakwood apartments at the beginning of their careers include Christina Ricci, Jessica Biel, Kirsten Dunst and Neil Patrick Harris.
