LAKEFIELD -- The schools taketh away and the schools giveth for the 2017-18 Lakefield Chiefs.

The de­fend­ing PJHL ju­nior C Orr Divi­sion cham­pi­ons lost some key play­ers who left town to at­tend univer­sity in­clud­ing Wil­liam Hickey (St. Fran­cis Xavier), 2016-17 league rookie-of-the-year Lyn­don LeMoire (Guelph) and Mitch Ogilvie (Guelph) in ad­di­tion to grad­u­at­ing over­age play­ers Eric Oost­ing, Nick Hilden­brand and Colton Arm­strong.

But head coach Jamie Ar­cand is ex­cited about some of the new faces the Chiefs will un­veil when they open their sea­son at 7:25 p.m. Satur­day against the Ge­orgina Ice at the Lakefield-Smith Com­mu­nity Cen­tre.

Some new faces with ju­nior A and B ex­pe­ri­ence at­tend­ing Flem­ing Col­lege and Trent Univer­sity will help off­set those losses.
