Currie Tire, Kings Crossing win city senior men’s slo-pitch championships
People who are new to squash will have a chance to try out the sport on Saturday when three city squash clubs host Squash Day in Canada open houses.
The event is a joint effort of Squash Canada and ParticipAction, aimed at celebrating Canada’s 150th anniversary as part of the ParticipAction 150 Play List challenge, which encourages Canadians to try 150 activities this year.
The open houses on Saturday are for all ages 8 and older.
Equipment and instruction will be offered.
Participants must bring clean running shoes. The Peterborough Squash Club at 1625 Chemong Rd. is holding an open house from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., including demonstrations, giveaways, prizes and a draw for a three-month membership.
The Balsillie Family YMCA on Aylmer Street will have an open house from noon to 3 p.m., with instruction offered. The Trent Athletic Complex squash open house at the university is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Currie Tire won the A division championship and Kings Crossing won the B division title in the Peterborough Senior Men’s Slo-Pitch League championships held Monday.
