Mann Cup parade Saturday

The Habs Alumni will faceoff against the Peterborough Quacks, a team of local doctors, at 7 p.m. at the Memorial Centre to raise funds for the Your Family Health Team Foundation.
The roster, unveiled last month by the foundation, also includes forwards Oleg Petrov, Keith Acton, Normand Dupont, Arron Asham, Jocelyn Lemieux; defencemen Ric Nattress, Gilbert Delorme, Patrice Brisebois and goalie Richard Sevigny.
In addition to the lineup, the foundation also announced Seven Hills Development as presenting sponsor, with a heavy presence on the ice, providing the referees and linesmen, intermission games featuring Peterborough Hockey Association’s novice and tyke teams, as well as some surprises for fans throughout the night, states a press release from Your Family Health Team Foundation.
Wolfe Lawyers willhost the VIP reception for the evening and bringing a touch of all things Canadian to the pre-game reception along with a special performance by singer Kate Suhr. She will also be performing the national anthem.
“It’s really exciting to be announcing the Montreal roster today as well as our partnership with Seven Hills Development who are bringing some big pieces to the game for the community,” stated Laura Kennedy, executive director of the foundation. “We really want to create an inclusive and interactive experience that goes beyond the regular hockey game as we celebrate our Peterborough community. Based on current ticket sales we’re encouraging anyone wanting to meet the players as part of the special $75 VIP reception hosted by Wolfe Lawyers to act quickly as we do expect these to sell out.”

All funds raised will continue to support the work of foundation for specialized programs with the Peterborough Family Health Team such as the Youth Sports Concussion Program, Mindfulness for Mental Health, INR Clinics and more, as well as research, capital equipment, training and continuing medical education for health care providers.
Players on the Quacks include local physicians Dr. Bill Rogers, Dr. Iain Jamieson, Dr. Gabriel Fuoco, Dr. Kirk Dillon, Dr. Jonathan Mallory, Dr. Mike Munoz, Dr. Deepinder Brar, Dr. Brendan Hughes, Dr. John Reesor, Dr. Scott Heidman, Dr. Mario Voros, Dr. Dale Friesen, Dr. Brendan Bechamps, Dr. Alex Weiler, Dr. Phong Nguyen Ho, Dr. Steph Dallaire, Dr. Katy Shufelt, Dr. Andrew Binette and Dr. Rick Binette. The Quacks will be supported by a few hockey friends including Marty Silvestri from Country 105/Energy 99.7 and Peterborough native Ryan Ready, a former left winger for the Philadelphia Flyers. The Peterborough Century 21 Lakers will be parading the Mann Cup down George Street on Saturday. Mayor Daryl Bennett will added the team at around 1:30 p.m. outside City Hall. The parade starts at 2 p.m. down George Street. The parade ends at Del Crary Park where the players will be available for autographs and photographs with the Mann Cup. The evening banquet and dance at the Evinrude Centre is $40 and tickets must be purchased in advance. The deadline to buy tickets is Thursday morning. Tickets will not be available at the door.
