Petes win in a shootout

Ang scores winner as Petes move into sole possession of first in East Division with shootout road win over Frontenacs.

There’s plenty of reason to arrive early to Saturday’s 4:05 p.m. game against the Sudbury Wolves.

The Petes will celebrate the 50th reunion of Thomas A. Stewart Secondary School. Representa­tives from TASSS will take part in a pregame ceremony while hundreds of alumni are expected to be in the crowd.

As part of the Peterborou­gh Lakers Mann Cup celebratio­ns, fans in attendance at the Lakers event at Del Crary Park between 2 and 3 p.m. Saturday will receive a voucher for a $13 regular bowl or $6 Sun Life Financial Family Zone ticket for the Petes game.

The first 1,000 fans in the doors for the rare 4:05 p.m. start will receive a cowbell courtesy of game sponsor The Home Depot Fans also have the chance to purchase one of 150 signed Petes mystery pucks with proceeds going to The Home Depot Canada Foundation. The fan who purchases the lucky golden puck will win a $100 Home Depot gift card. Between periods, Ryobi will showcase products in a Leaf Blower race.

The Maverick Field Hockey Club will be selling chuck-a-pucks to raise funds to help keep athletes in the game. Puck-tossers will have the chance to win a signed Petes jersey, tickets to an upcoming Petes game, a photo session, a gift card, a gift basket, and a Maverick Field Hockey Club Learn2Play membership.

Delay of game

The start of Friday’s game was delayed by 20 minutes due to the late arrival of the Petes. The club had bus issues on County Road 28 and were forced to switch buses.

Roster notes

The Petes iced the same lineup Friday as they did in Thursday’s 2-1 win over Kingston at the PMC. The only difference was Hunter Jones got the start in goal.
