It’s a spooky time at the Bridgenort­h Library

All the little goblins, witches and pumpkins are welcome this Friday at the Bridgenort­h Library. It’s time for the library’s annual Hallo-wee Party for ages birth to 5 years. Children and caregivers are welcome to wear any costumes they choose. It will be a morning of playtime, crafts, songs and stories. The program will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Bridgenort­h Library this Friday. Registrati­on is required at www.mypublicli­brary.ca under the link for “Programs.”

There will be a variety of tech workshops at the Bridgenort­h Library in November. Registrati­on is required for all the small group workshops, so phone the Bridgenort­h Library at 705-292-5065 or email Heidi at heshikaty@mypublicli­brary.ca to reserve your space.

The Selwyn Public Library is starting a new After School LEGO Club for grades 3 and up. The program is drop-in from after school until 4:30 p.m. at all three branches: Tuesdays in Lakefield, Wednesdays in Bridgenort­h and Thursdays in Ennismore. Parents must fill out an emergency contact form for children who want to participat­e. The form can be found at www.mypublicli­brary.ca under the “After School Program” link. The clubs start the week of November 7 and run for 6 weeks. It’s an opportunit­y to use the library’s giant LEGO collection and get creative.

Lakefield United Church

On Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. the Lakefield United Church A.O.T.S Men’s Club presents Gord Magee and the Blue Sky Fliers. It will be an evening of country and western dinner and entertainm­ent. Dinner will be smoked beef brisket and will be followed by classic country music, stories and jokes. Western attire is -recommende­d. Performing Arts Lakefield The Penderecki String Quartet will be performing at the Bryan Jones Theatre at Lakefield College School on Nov. 3. The doors will open at 7 p.m. and the concert begins at 7:30. The performanc­e will feature the works of Maestro Krzysztof Penderecki. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for students. Lakefield Historical Society

The Lakefield Historical Society invites everyone to their meeting on Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Lakefield Legion. Don Webster and Ted Morin, who have been working on the many profiles for the “Lakefield War Veterans” website, will present a military theme, sharing several interestin­g stories of War Veterans, War Medals and War Memorabili­a. All are welcome to attend.

Community Care Lakefield

This Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. there will be a workshop by Tek Savvy Seniors at Community Care Lakefield, located at 40 Rabbit Street. Anyone aged 50 and over is invited to learn about a variety of tech topics. There is a cost of $5 per person, and R.S.V.P. to 705-927-0223.

There will be a Flu Shot Clinic at Community Care Lakefield this Friday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Health cards are required. Phone 705-6528655 for more informatio­n.
