Coffee and Cops drop-in Wednesday

As part of Crime Prevention Week, city police is hosting a Coffee and Cops drop-in next week at the Whistle Stop Café, at 141 Charlotte St. The drop-in runs from 10 a.m. until noon Wednesday. During the session members of the community can visit the downtown eatery to have a coffee, meet the city police community services officers, ask questions about the police department and programmin­g and provide feedback. Fresh Radio 100.5FM will broadcast its weekly live Whistle Stop Wednesday show on Facebook during Coffee and Cops. Community services Const. Andrew Hatton will be the guest on the show hosted by Pete Dalliday and Catherine Hanrahan. Crime Prevention Week will also see city police promoting crime prevention in the community and on social media, focusing on crime prevention as a shared responsibi­lity in our community, according to a release from city police. “Everyone has a role to play in preventing crime and helping to ensure the communitie­s of Peterborou­gh, Lakefield and Cavan Monaghan are thriving and welcoming places to live, work, and play,” stated city police Chief Murray Rodd. “During this week we encourage everyone to take a moment to think about how they can protect themselves, their families, neighbours and workplaces from crime. Crime prevention involves all of us working together to make our homes, neighbourh­oods and workplaces safe and healthy.”
