First aid courses available in East City

St. John Ambulance offers a shortened schedule of first aid courses for December, happening at the Peter borough Lions community centre ,347 Burn ham Street.

Standard First Aid: Standard first aid is a two day course and provides full first aid training, including CPR for adults and automated external defibrillation (AED).

Classes in standard first aid with level A CPR are slated for Dec. 6 to Dec. 7; Dec. 13 to Dec. 14 at the Lions centre. Times are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Standard first aid with level C CPR has an extra hour of training with the same dates and locations. Hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Emergency First Aid: The emergency first aid course is completed in one day, providing basic first aid training with CPR and AED procedures.

Emergency first aid classes with level A CPR are planned for Dec. 6 and Dec. 13 at the Lions Centre. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Emergency first aid with level C CPR and AED runs on the same dates. This class runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SJA also offers weekend and evening sessions at their facility on the lower level of Applewood Manor, 1500 Lansdowne St. W.

Weekend class dates for standard first aid are Dec. 2 to Dec. 3; Dec. 9 to Dec. 10 and Dec. 16 to Dec. 17 at Apple wood. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for level A CPR and 8:30 to 5 p.m. for level C CPR.

Renew Your Certificate: Renew your standard first aid certificate at a renewal class Dec. 15 at the Lions centre, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for level A or 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for level C.

Babysitting Basics: There are no babysitting courses planned for December. The classes return in February and there will also be multiple classes slated for the March school break.

Carol Service

Greenwood United Church cel- ebrates the start of the Christmas season with a Carol Service slated for the first Sunday in Advent, Nov. 26 at 2:30 p.m. at the church.

The afternoon event will have Christmas carols, choir anthems and soloists. Greenwood is located at 737 Donwood Dr., in Donwood. Artisan Show & Sale

The annual Artisan Show and Sale to benefit Jamaican Self Help happens Nov. 25, from 10 am to 4 p.m. and Nov. 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mark Street United Church, 90 Hunter St. E.

Artists will be showing pottery, textile and fabric art, specialty soaps, knitted and woven items, bees wax products, metal and wood work, photography, jewelry, fresh baked goods and more.

Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
