Field naturalists head to Rice Lake
Peterborough Field Naturalists (PFN) will take their traditional Grey Cup afternoon exploration trip of sites along the northwestern shore of Rice Lake on Sunday. The group, led by Martin Parker, will look for late migrating ducks and other birds. Highlights of the outing will be possible sightings of rafts of ducks riding the waves of Rice Lake and the scenic vistas overlooking the lake.
Bring binoculars, a telescope if you have one, and dress for the weather. Meet outside the Tim Horton sin the Canadian Tire Plaza, Lansdowne Street at 1 p.m. The trip will last until the late afternoon, but don’t worry, CFL fans will be home in time for thegame.
Community members are welcome. It is a great opportunity to see what the PFN is all about. The group meets the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. (with a break for the summer) at the Camp Kawartha Environment Centre at Trent University.
Breakfast With Santa
Santa will be pop ping into Activity Haven ,180 Barn ar do Ave ., Saturday, Dec .2 from 9 a.m. until noon and everyone is invited to come and have breakfast with him. There will be crafts for the kids, the opportunity to have pictures taken with Santa and a kids’ shopping area with all items $1 or less.
The breakfast menu includes a waffle bar with delectable toppings, sausage sand baked eggs, hash brown casseroles, Christmas cupcakes, juice, coffee and tea.

Bagel making
Join local bread making experts Tom and Myra and learn how to make bagels in a Bagel Making 101 Workshop Wednesday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Seasoned Spoon Café, Trent University.
In this hands-on workshop, learn the easy steps to make classic bagels from scratch so you can enjoy the authentic flavor of Montreal/NY style bagels without leaving your own kitchen.

PA Day Camp
A ni Makei Move PA Day Camp for kids ages 5 to 13 will be held Friday at Northminster United Church, 300 Sunset Blvd. The camp will include fun and active individual and team games and play, interchanging screen-free and computer handson activities. Kids will explore why and how to stay active in the modern technological environment, be a responsible digital citizen, create simple working circuit, and make codes. Outdoor activities in the church grounds will be included if weather permits.
Participants need to bring a lunch and snacks. Refrigeration will be available. Children arrive at the camp at 8:30 a.m. with end-ofday pick up between 3:30 and 3:45 p.m. or between 5 and 5:15 p.m. for extended care. The cost is $40, or $50 with extended care, plus GST/HST.
