For any patrons of the Omemee branch of the library you are aware of just how small the facility is. The branch will be relocating as of Nov. 21 to the former Hardware Store location on King St. The new facilities will be much better able to serve the village.

Diabetes talk

The Omemee and District Lions Club will present a speaker about the importance of diabetes knowledge in reducing complicati­ons and improving your personal health. The ABCs of Diabetes will be held at Coronation Hall, Nov ,22. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Following the speaker there will be a question and answer session as well as healthy snacks. No admission charge.

Country Christmas

The Mount Horeb Ladies’ Group will host a Country Christmas luncheon and bake sale, Nov .25,11 a.m. at 117 Hill head Rd. For $7 you can purchase a sandwich, beverage and dessert before browsing the Christmas items for sale.

Apple pies

The Om emee Lioness Club members are busy making their famous apple pies. In the past few years the small group have made more than 1,000 pi es annually. Christmas luncheon

The Lioness in conjunctio­n with Community Care will host a Christmas luncheon for seniors at Christ Church Anglican, Dec. 7 at noon. Cost is $6 per person for a traditiona­l turkey dinner. The luncheon is open to anyone 55 years and over. Call705-324-7323 to reserve a seat.

Directors sought

The Omemee Medical Centre is looking for people to sit on the board of directors. The board consists of up to nine members and four will be completing their terms. The current Board has been in place since 2007 so new blood and thoughts are needed. The Board meets four evenings per year. Their goal is to bring healthcare services to Om emee. Potluck Nov.28

Omemee Seniors will meet Nov .21 at 1 p.m. at the Omemee Legion for euchre. Cost is $2.50 per person.

Nov. 28, 12:30 p.m. is the monthly potluck, $3 per person. Bring your favourite dish to share along with your cutlery, mug and plate to speed up cleanup.

Luncheon

Janetville Pastoral Charge (Janet vi ll ea nd Mount H or eb United Churches) have several events coming up. A community luncheon will be held Dec. 21, noon at Janetville United. A free will offering is collected for elementary school food programs.

Rock’n Grandma

Rock’n Grandma Et Compagnie will be entertaini­ng, Dec. 9, 2-4 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available by calling 705-324-4006.

Christmas

The annual Christmas tree lighting will be held beside Coronation Hall, Dec .1 at 7 p.m. Following the lighting guests are invited to visit with Santa and enjoy a holiday treat.

Plans are coming together for this year’s Santa Claus Parade, Dec. 2 at 1 p.m. The parade begins at Scott Young Public School, Walnut St. and progresses to the Legion via Hwy.7 There is no official theme other than Christmas. Community groups and businesses are encouraged to create a float for the event. Following the parade, Santa Claus will meet with the younger children at Coronation Hall for hot chocolate and a treat sponsored by the Omemee Lioness. The parade is organized by the Omemee and District Lions Club.

Legion Loonie Auction

The Legion will be holding its first Loonie Auction, Dec. 2, 5-9 p.m. Admission is $5 which includes soup and sandwich. Bring your loonies and join in the fun.

Osteoporos­is support

There will bean osteoporos­is support group meeting Nov .21,1:30 p.m. at Adelaide Place, 84 Adelaide St. S., Lindsay. Melissa Mc Na nara from the Central East Local Health Integratio­n Network will be speaking.

Farm co-op workshop

There will be a workshop about starting a farm or food co-op 101, Dec. 8, 1-4 p.m. at 270 George St. N., Peterborou­gh. The event is hosted cooperativ­ely between Farm sat Work and Local Food and Farms Coop. Cost is $15 per person and informatio­n is available at 705-743-7671. Heart health program
