PETES PIECES

-

The Peterborough Foley Bus Lines minor midget AAA Petes got an honourable mention in the first set of Top 10 rankings for the OHL Cup Showcase released on Wednesday.

The Petes beat the fourthranked York-Simcoe Express 4-3 on Thursday in the opening game of a tournament in Whitby to improve to 21-7-2 this season. They possess the best winning percentage in the OMHA’s ETA.

The Toronto Marlboros are the No. 1-ranked team followed by the Oakville Rangers and Vaughan Kings who the Petes face on Friday.

Special Olympics Night

Petes fans donated $2,027 to Special Olympics during Thursday’s game. The OHL has partnered with Special Olympics for a number of years with each team holding a fundraising night for the organization in November.

Pink in the Rink

Pete Dalliday, co-chairman for this season’s Petes’ Pink in the Rink fundraiser is proud to announce all 300 name plates on the Petes’ commemorative jersey have been sold out.

Fans paid $20 to have names of loved ones who have battled cancer on the jersey.

“Getting the 300 names really is quite unbelievable yet not surprising,” Dalliday said.

“This community never fails to amaze me. I’ve heard so many stories from families and friends of those touched by cancer that it’s more than just the money raised, it’s also about giving people a chance to remember their loved ones or perhaps show support for someone who’s currently fighting.”

Roster notes

Petes head coach Jody Hull said the hope is for Nick Isaacson to possibly resume skating at some point next week as he works his way back from an upper body injury.

On Thursday, the Petes got Adam Timleck (upper body) back from injury and Cole Fraser returned from a five-game suspension. It’s the healthiest the team has been in three weeks.

Healthy scratches were Adrien Beraldo, Chad Denault and Matt McNamara.
