Hollywood for the Holidays PSO concerts Dec. 9

The Peterborough Symphony Orchestra will perform Hollywood for the Holidays next month.

The Christmas concert will be performed at the Showplace Performance Centre on George Street on Dec.9 with a 2 p.m. matinee and a 7:30 p.m. evening performance.

The Kawartha Youth Orchestra and Peterborough Pop Ensemble will be guest performers.

Hollywood for the Holidays will feature the music of film favourites such as Home Alone, The Polar Express and

It’s a Wonderful Life.

Audience members will be encouraged to join in throughout the performance as the orchestra plays other seasonal songs and leads a carol-sing, according to a release. At Hollywood for the Holidays, local violinist Witold Swoboda will be back on stage with the PSO for his last concert of the season as guest voncert master.PSO voncert master Phoebe Tsang will begin her tenure with the orchestra in the new year. Unlike PSO Main Series concerts, there will not be a pre-concert Meet the Maestro chat in the theatre before either of the Dec. 9 concerts. Also, the post-concert reception in Showplace’s Nexicom Studio will take place after the 7:30 p.m. concert only.
