New owner at Lakefield flower shop

Lakefield Flowers and Gifts is under new ownership. Robyn Jenkins, who owns The Robyns Nest Photograph­y and Bridal Boutique just across the street, has purchased the business, renovated the store, and put her mother Rachel Jenkins in charge!

Located at 56 Queen Street in Lakefield, it’s a full service flower shop and will be working in conjunctio­n with the Robyn’s Nest to offer a one stop bridal service for make-up, hair, photograph­y and flowers.

New restaurant

Well known local chef and caterer Martin Carbajal has just opened his own restaurant. La Mesita is located at 229 Hunter Street and serves authentic Mexican cuisine including tacos, tortas, fajitas, salads, drinks and desserts.

And congratula­tions this week to Brenda Ibey of the AvantGarde­n Shop on celebratin­g 15 years in business! Brenda celebrated by capturing the “Customer First” award at the Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards. And to the six Fleming College alumni nominees recently named for the Colleges Ontario Premiers Awards. They are Duane Parnham, Michael VanDerHerb­erg, Glenn Ogden, Heather Lee, Thomas Wilkins and Al Stinson. The awards ceremony is tonight in Toronto.
