Donations needed for Christmas Blessing Corner

The Good Neighbours Care Centre’s Christmas Blessing Corner needs your help. They are looking for donations of gloves, socks, shaving cream, razors, toothbrush­es and toothpaste for approximat­ely 500 men and 500 ladies. Also needed are face cloths, towels, tea towels, dish soap, and coffee mugs to make hot chocolate gifts. Financial donations are also welcome. Receipts can be provided.

Please get your donations in as soon as possible, as gift distributi­on begins Friday. All items can be dropped off at Norms Cash And Carry, 731 Rye St., (Maureen at 705-7997813) or May Baptie’s, 775 Brown St. (705957-4323).

Good Neighbours Care Centre is a nonprofit organizati­on that has served people in need for over 30 years. They provide 1,500 to 1,700 clients per month with free clothing and food.

No Gala Gala

The Canadian Mental Health Associatio­n Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (CMHA HKPR) is holding their 5th No Gala Gala tomorrow for Giving Tuesday from 4:30 until 7 p.m. at The Venue, 286 George St. Giving Tuesday is a national day of giving that encourages people to consider charitable giving as part of their holiday shopping. The No Gala- Gala is a drop-in, come-asyou-are event. No fancy dress or tickets are required. Just drop in and bring along a donation of a grocery store gift card, and/ or warm socks, scarves, hats and mitts. These items will be given over the holidays to community members who most need them. Cash donations would also be welcome.

Why not make your donation a gift for someone on your Christmas gift list. A card, acknowledg­ing your gift can be sent out, upon request.

Refreshmen­ts for the event will be provided compliment­s of The Venue and a cash bar will be available. There will also be a silent auction. Donations for the silent auction would also be appreciate­d.

Bottle drive

The Peterborou­gh Humane Society Bottle Drive takes place at the shelter, 385 Lansdowne St. E., Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Drop off your empties and help support the animals in your community.

Craft fair

The Fall Craft Fair returns to the Seasoned Spoon Café, Trent University, on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. featuring unique artisanal creations of all kinds. Stop by and pick up seasonal gifts for your family and friends, or even yourself and help support local artists.

Lockside Santa

Santa will be at Lockside Trading Company, 2805 River Rd., Young’s Point, Dec. 2 and Dec. 3 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. for wishes and pictures. All proceeds will go to Jack’s Journey and the MPS II Research Fund.

Jack Higginson is a local 8-year-old boy who has Hunter Syndrome, or MPS II, a very rare progressiv­e disease with no known cure. The MPS II Research Fund is working to find that cure.
