Flu shot clinic coming up in Omemee

There will be a flu shot clinic at Omemee Medical Centre, 23 Wellington St., Nov. 30, 3-7 p.m. for all patients of the City of Kawartha Lakes Family Health Team. Please bring your valid health card.

Baptist Church

The Omemee Baptist Church will hold a traditiona­l family Christmas concert, Dec. 13, 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the church on Sturgeon St. with Rev. Gordon Finlay conducting. There is no cost to attend but donations to the Omemee Food bank would be appreciate­d.

Donations for the food bank can be given at local churches as well as Omemee Foodland. The Scouts will be collecting along the parade route, Dec. 2.

Apple pies

The Omemee Lioness Club members are busy making their famous apple pies. In the past few years the small group have made over 1,000 pies annually. The pies are available for purchase for $8 each with the proceeds helping various local activities. To order contact Lioness Barb at aboutyme@ sympatico.ca

Christmas lunch

The Lioness in conjunctio­n with Community Care will host a Christmas luncheon for seniors at Christ Church Anglican, Dec. 7 at noon. Cost is $6 per person for a traditiona­l turkey dinner. The luncheon is open to anyone 55 yrs. and over. Call 705-324-7323 to reserve a seat.

Medical centre

The Omemee Medical Centre is looking for interested people to sit on the board of directors. The board consists of up to nine members and four will be completing their terms. The current Board has been in place since 2007 so new blood and thoughts are needed. The board meets four evenings per year. Their goal is to bring health care services to Omemee. Omemee seniors will meet Dec. 5, 12 and 19 at 1 p.m. at the Omemee Legion for euchre. Cost is $2.50 per person.

Janetville Pastoral Charge (Janetville and Mount Horeb United Churches) have several events coming up. A community luncheon will be held Dec. 21, noon at Janetville United. A free will offering is collected for the local elementary school food programs.

Rock’n Grandma

Rock’n Grandma et Compagnie will be entertaini­ng, Dec. 9, 2-4 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available by calling 705-324-4006.

The annual Christmas tree lighting will be held beside Coronation Hall, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. Following the lighting guests are invited to visit with Santa and enjoy a holiday treat.

Plans are coming together for this year’s Santa Claus Parade, Dec. 2 at 1 p.m. The parade begins at Scott Young Public School, Walnut St. and progresses to the Legion via Hwy.7 There is no official theme other than Christmas. Community groups and businesses are encouraged to create a float for the event. Following the parade, Santa Claus will meet with the younger children at Coronation Hall for hot chocolate and a treat sponsored by the Omemee Lioness. The parade is organized by the Omemee and District

Lions Club.

The Legion will be holding its first Loonie Auction, Dec. 2, 5-9 p.m. Admission is $5 which includes soup and sandwich. Bring your loonies and join in the fun.

The Beat Goes On heart health program will be held at 65 Melbourne St. W. (Village Housing), Nov. 28 will feature Lauren Gogol, Community Care Registered Dietician talking about Healthy Heart Eating. Call 705324-6111 ext 4145 to register.
