The Profession­al Engineers of Ontario and Peterborou­gh’s Innovation

Cluster are hosting an event to celebrate the achievemen­ts of female engineers in Peterborou­gh and encourage young women to study science, technology, engineerin­g and mathematic­s (STEM).

The event will be taking place at The Venue on George Street on Wednesday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. This is the first year this event is being hosted in attempts to inspire and celebrate the work of women. he event will also help women strengthen their connection­s in the STEM community by hosting a networking session at 8:45 p.m.

This celebratio­n will include a selection of different speakers such as Maxine Mann, dean of the School of Business and dean of the School of Trades and Technology of Fleming College; Valerie Davidson, professor emerita, School of Engineerin­g, University of Guelph; Marisa Sterling, assistant dean, inclusivit­y and diversity, Lassonde School of Chemical Engineerin­g at York University; Jason Di Tommaso, OSPE Eastern Ontario Representa­tive; Sean Dunne, IEEE Peterborou­gh chapter representa­tive, and Maisie Watson, manager of Homeward Bound Peterborou­gh.

The STEM event’s MC will be Rosalea Terry, the Innovation Cluster’s marketing manager and innovation specialist. Donations will be accepted at the door, and the donations received will go towards future initiative­s for STEM participan­ts.
