STEM event at Venue
The Professional Engineers of Ontario and Peterborough’s Innovation
Cluster are hosting an event to celebrate the achievements of female engineers in Peterborough and encourage young women to study science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
The event will be taking place at The Venue on George Street on Wednesday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. This is the first year this event is being hosted in attempts to inspire and celebrate the work of women. he event will also help women strengthen their connections in the STEM community by hosting a networking session at 8:45 p.m.
This celebration will include a selection of different speakers such as Maxine Mann, dean of the School of Business and dean of the School of Trades and Technology of Fleming College; Valerie Davidson, professor emerita, School of Engineering, University of Guelph; Marisa Sterling, assistant dean, inclusivity and diversity, Lassonde School of Chemical Engineering at York University; Jason Di Tommaso, OSPE Eastern Ontario Representative; Sean Dunne, IEEE Peterborough chapter representative, and Maisie Watson, manager of Homeward Bound Peterborough.
The STEM event’s MC will be Rosalea Terry, the Innovation Cluster’s marketing manager and innovation specialist. Donations will be accepted at the door, and the donations received will go towards future initiatives for STEM participants.
