Neil Young concert to be repeated on CTV Sunday
Did you miss the ctv.ca livestream of rocker Neil Young’s intimate hometown solo acoustic concert from Coronation Hall in Omemee on Friday night?
Or did you feel a little helpless trying to get the stream to work on a slow rural internet connection?
Well there will be one more chance to view the broadcast.
The CTV network is showing a repeat of the concert on Sunday from 9 to 11 p.m., including on CHEX-TV in Peterborough and CFTO-TV in Toronto.
Young staged the concert on Friday, which was also livestreamed around the world for free on his Facebook page, to mark Friday’s release of his new album The Visitor and the online debut of the Neil Young Archives, where material from throughout his career is being offered for free this week.
Young lived in Omemee for a few years as a child. The senior public elementary school in the village is named after his father, the late sports writer Scott Young. The Young family also owned a farm in Cavan Hills for a long time and his brother Bob lives in the area.
Some proceeds from the concert are being donated to Scott Young Public School, but CTV has not revealed the amount yet.
The concert broadcast was directed by Young’s girlfriend actress Daryl Hannah, who was also the art director for the production.
Young and Hannah attended a private after-party for the concert crew at The Sapphire Room cocktail lounge on Hunter Street West in Peterborough after the broadcast.
Young had a pint of Smit havens Black Lager, while Hannah ordered a margarita, according to a posting on The Sapphire Room’s Facebook page.
“We came for Pingo and were totally shocked when we saw all the security guards,” Hannah Routly, Trent University’s manager of stewardship, donor and volunteer relations, wrote on the Facebook page. “Nice to see they know the best bar in the city!”
