The number of unanswered goals scored by the Saginaw Spirit in an overtime win against the CHL’s then top-ranked Sarnia Sting last weekend. The Spirit were trailing 6-0 with less than two minutes left in the second period, when D.J. Busdeker put Saginaw on the board. Mason Kohn went on to assist on three goals, including Cole Coskey’s overtime winner to help complete the unbelievable comeback.

The number of straight wins racked up by the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, who supplanted the Sting at the top of this week’s CHL rankings. The Hounds set a new franchise record with their 14th consecutive win last Sunday — a 4-0 win over the host Oshawa Generals. The now 15-game streak surpasses a past franchise mark of 13 set by the club in both 1980-81 and 1984-85.

The length of the longest winning streak in OHL history — a record set by the Kitchener Rangers way back in 1984. The team, which featured future NHLers David Shaw, Wayne Presley and Nick Kypreos, went all the way to the league finals before the Ottawa 67’s downed them in five games. The 67’s also won the Memorial Cup that year — in Kitchener, where the Rangers were hosting the tournament.

The number of other OHL teams in this week’s CHL Top 10. The Hamilton Bulldogs slipped one spot to No. 9, while the Sting dropped to No. 3, after spending eight weeks atop the standings. The Greyhounds, meanwhile, moved up two positions to No. 1.

The number of OHL players who earned an invitation to Canada’s national junior team selection camp, including goalie Michael DiPietro (Windsor) and defencemen Logan Stanley (Kitchener) and Conor Timmins (Sault Ste. Marie). Forwards Jonathan Ang (Peterborough), Alex Formenton (London), Jonah Gadjovich (Owen Sound), Boris Katchouk (Sault Ste. Marie), Michael McLeod (Mississauga), Taylor Raddysh (Erie), Nick Suzuki (Owen Sound) and Robert Thomas (London) also made the cut.

The number of OHL grads named to the U Sports All-Star Team that will faceoff with Canada’s national junior hopefuls in a pair of exhibition games in St. Catharines next week. The list includes Burlington native and former Hamilton Bulldogs forward Stephen Harper, who is having a standout season with the Acadia Axemen.

The number of hat tricks recorded in a wild contest between the Windsor Spitfires and Kitchener Rangers Tuesday. Windsor’s Aaron Luchuk and Kitchener’s Adam Mascherin both registered three goals in the 8-5 Spitfires road win. It was the first OHL hat trick for Mascherin, a fourth year veteran, and the third for overager Luchuk, who leads the league in goal scoring.

The number of stuffed animals Mascherin sent flying with his first goal against the Spitfires — a record for the Rangers. Another nine teams will host Teddy Bear Tosses this weekend, including the Bulldogs. They’ll hold their event Saturday when the Spirit come to town for a 4 p.m. matchup.

The number of wins under Dale Hunter’s belt after his London Knights dropped the North Bay Battalion in overtime Saturday. Hunter, who was honoured in a presentation by Peterborough Petes captain Logan DeNoble when the Knights hosted the Petes on Friday night, is just the third head coach in the history of the OHL to hit the mark, behind Brian Kilrea and Bert Templeton — a feat he accomplished in just 1,055 games. His all-time winning percentage of .699 is the highest among coaches with more than 200 wins in the league.
