The Peterborough Examiner

Grateful PRHC patient feels blessed

-

Recently, my wife, Anna, and I moved to Lakefield.

After being settled only a brief time, my ability to breathe became more and more difficult.

My wife called 911. Immediately, the fire department sent three of the finest first responders to help me through this terrifying dilemma. They were followed closely by the paramedics who took over to prepare me for transport to Peterborough Regional Health Centre.

I was taken by ambulance to PRHC and along the way, paramedics encourage me to not give up as they administered what was needed to keep me conscious. These guys are amazing!

The staff in Emerg and all the support people were so helpful and kind, yet professional.

My diagnosis was congestive heart failure. Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff in Emerg and ICU that I would described as second to none.

After almost a week, I was moved to the fourth floor for cardiac care and remained there for another week.

All of the doctors, nurses, student nurses, physiotherapists and the floor manager on the fourth floor displayed such kindness and professionalism.

I can honestly say that I have never experienced the level of service in any top hotel in North America that I received from the staff at PRHC.

I thank God for placing us in the best part of the world with professional, competent and caring health-care providers.

Please support the wonderful staff of Peterborough Regional Health Centre.
