Lego, tech toys and more in Selwyn

On Dec. 27 there will be a Snowy Storytime from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Bridgenorth Library. This program is for ages 3 to 5. Registration is required at www.mypubliclibrary.ca.

Also on Dec. 27, there will be a drop-in Greenscreen Program. All ages can drop-in between 2 and 4 p.m. on Dec. 27 at the Bridgenorth Library. There will be several backgrounds to choose from, so bring your imagination and strike a pose in front of fantastical backgrounds.

There will be a Lego Block Party in Lakefield on Dec. 29 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for ages 4 and up. Registration is required at www.mypubliclibrary.ca.

On Jan. 3 there will be a Maker Morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Bridgenorth. Participants can experiment with some of the library’s new tech toys. This program is for ages 4 and up, and ages 4 to 8 should attend with a caregiver. Registration is required at www.mypubliclibrary.ca.

Lakefield Singers

The Lakefield Singers will begin their winter 2018 season on January 10 until March 14. The group is a welcoming mixed chorus with a wide range of talents, ages and experience. All are welcome. The cost is $70 for the season and the group meets 6:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. on Wednesdays at Lakefield United Church, located at 47 Regent St., in Lakefield.

Fairview United Church

Fairview United Church will be having a Christmas Eve Service on Dec. 24 at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome. The church is located at 724 Centre Line, Selwyn.

St. John the Baptist

There will be a festive Christmas Dinner at St. John’s parish hall on Regent Street in Lakefield at noon on Dec. 17. There will be apple cider as you arrive, and the menu will feature Prim’s favourite ham, baked potatoes with sour cream or butter, a colourful mix of carrots, parsnip and rutabagas, Christmas coleslaw, fresh-baked rolls; topped off with traditional Christmas pudding or fresh fruit salad. Bridgenorth United Church

On Dec. 24 at 10:30 a.m. there will be a Fourth Sunday of Advent Service, as well as a Christmas Eve Service at 6 p.m. The Christmas Eve Service will be a family service of music featuring The Tarnished Angels band and the choir.

Young’s Point United Church

Young’s Point United Church will have a Family Candlelight Service at p.m. on Christmas Eve. The church is located on Chalmers Street just off of Old Young ’s Point Road in Young’s Point.

Lakefield United Church

There will be Christmas trees for sale by the A.O.T.S Men’s club, and proceeds go to support local charities. The trees will be on sale at 45 Regent Street in Lakefield Monday to Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. Please send any community event information to selwyncolumn@gmail.com
