Midget Tournament of Champions opens Thursday
The Peterborough Minor Hockey Council is hosting the 12th annual Midget Tournament of Champions from Thursday to Sunday. “Peterborough will host some of the top Minor Midget and Major Midget teams. It will be a great experience for these players who are eligible for the OHL Priority Selection to come together this weekend and showcase their talent and skills for the scouts” stated PMHC president Walter DiClemente.
The tournament will feature 20 minor midget and 26 major midget teams. Games will be played at the Evinrude, Kinsmen, Memorial Centre, Douro and Norwood arenas.

Over the past six years, more than
250 players that have participated in this tournament were drafted to the OHL and many others have accepted scholarships to NCAA schools.
The tournament is an opportunity to showcase the AAA Minor Petes as a first class organization, states a release from the PMHC, and provide the players with an environment where they can compete at the highest possible level in their division. The tournament is expected to draw more than 1,000 visitors to the city and county over the four days.
Minor Hockey Night in Peterborough will be held Friday at the Memorial Centre with four feature games starting at 4 p.m.:
4 - 5:45 p.m., Midget - North Bay Trapper vs. Peterborough Petes
5:45 - 7:30 p.m., Minor Midget - Sun County Panthers vs. Ottawa Ambassadors
7:30 - 9:15 p.m., Minor Midget Buffalo Jr. Sabers vs. Peterborough Petes
9:15 - 11 p.m., Minor Midget Ottawa Capitals vs. Clarington Toros
