Undefeated Rush sits atop NLL standings

The Saskatchew­an Rush (4-0) is the National Lacrosse League’s lone undefeated team after beating the Colorado Mammoth 17-12 in Denver on Saturday.

Ben McIntosh led the Rush with 10 points, including eight assists. Curtis Knight, Robert Church and Marty Dinsdale each posted hat tricks for the Rush, who got seven points from Mark Matthews (one goal, six assists).

Peterborou­gh Laker Evan Kirk stopped 33 shots for the win while Dillon Ward kicked out 35-of-50 shots in defeat. Steve Fryer came on in relief during the fourth quarter for the Mammoth and allow one goal on three shots.

Saskatchew­an was 3 for 4 on the power play and Colorado converted three times on five attempts.

The Rush is to play host to the Buffalo Bandits on Friday at the SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon.

Cattoni scores pair in Roughnecks win

CALGARY — Shayne Jackson and Randy Staats each scored four times as the Georgia Swarm beat the Calgary Roughnecks 15-12 on Saturday in National Lacrosse League action.

Miles Thompson struck twice with Alex Crepinsek, Jesse King, Jordan MacIntosh, Kiel Matisz and Johnny Powless rounding out the attack for the Swarm (2-3).

Wesley Berg scored four goals for Calgary (1-4) with Peterborou­gh Laker Holden Cattoni, Dane Dobbie and Riley Loewen all adding a pair of goals apiece. Peterborou­gh Laker Curtis Dickson and Tyson Bell had the other goals.

Mike Poulin stopped 45 shots for the win in net. Christian Del Bianco took the loss by turning away 13-of16 shots in 23:44 of relief. Frank Scigliano started and made 24 saves.

Georgia was scoreless on four power plays and the Roughnecks were 3 for 5.

Joel McCready scores OT winner to lead Stealth over Bandits

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Joel McCready scored his second goal of the game in overtime as the Vancouver Stealth edged the Buffalo Bandits 11-10 on Saturday for their first National Lacrosse League win of the season. Corey Small led the Stealth (1-4) with four goals and four assists. Logan Schuss had a hat trick and Rhys Duch also struck twice.

Kevin Brownell, Mitch Jones, Vaughn Harris and Dhane Smith each scored twice for Buffalo (2-3). Callum Crawford and Josh Byrne also chipped in.

Eric Penney made 52 saves for the win. Alex Buque kicked out 39 shots in defeat.

Vancouver was 3 for 11 on the power play and the Bandits scored three times on 10 attempts.

Adam Jones gets eight points as Rock topple Knighthawk­s

TORONTO — Tom Schreiber had four goals and four assists and Peterborou­gh Laker Adam Jones had three goals and five helpers as the Toronto Rock downed the Rochester Knighthawk­s 17-9 on Friday in National Lacrosse League play.

Ron Hellyer and Challen Rogers matched each other with a goal and four assists while Sheldon Burns struck twice for the Rock (3-2). Brett Hickey, Kieran McArdle, Phil Caputo, Dan Craig, Damon Edwards and Reid Reindholt rounded out the offence.

Kyle Jackson, Austin Shanks and Cody Jamieson had a pair of goals apiece for the Knighthawk­s (2-2), who got singles from Cory Vitarelli, Dan Dawson and Josh Currier.

Nick Rose made 47 saves for the win. Peterborou­gh Laker Matt Vinc and Angus Goodleaf combined to make 50 saves in defeat.

Toronto went 2 for 5 on the power play while Rochester was 3 for 4.
