Minimum wage: Put the blame where it belongs

-

Was the move to cut costs by the Tim Hortons franchise owners in Cobourg a smart idea? Perhaps not, but before you continue to throw stones you might want to check a couple other things.

I have known a number of franchisees and they all agree their employees are their most important asset. Yes, most owners make money but if you work between 60 and 80 hours a week, I think you deserve to be compensated, and just because your parents founded the company does not necessarily mean you have a ton of money.

So, please, before you pass judgment on a small business owner, take a gander at the cause of the problem and not the effect. Do some research on the Brazilian owners who control Tim Hortons and find out why the franchises in Ontario had to get together.

You may also check the real cause of low- and middle-income problems in Ontario by just turning towards Queen’s Park. The Liberals have caused more grief in this province than all previous governments and yet the most detested person in Ontario has the nerve to jump on the bandwagon.

Remember, an election is looming so you may want to read the list of increases Premier Kathleen Wynne and her gang have imposed on the average person and families in Ontario. Please, just make sure you are protesting against the cause and not the effect. Target the right people!
