Jugglers, acrobats and more as circus comes to town

The Peterborou­gh Variety Spectacula­r, featuring performers of comedy, juggling, circus and trampoline acrobatics takes place Friday from 7 until 9:30 at Thomas A. Stewart Secondary School, 1009 Armour Rd. The show is a fundraiser for Crime Stoppers.

Featuring Craig Douglas, Aristov Family Circus and Spring Action, this show promises fun, lots of laughs, and audience participat­ion. It is suitable for all ages.

“Craig Douglas is Canada’s top comedic juggler. Aristov Family Circus is a family of classicall­y trained circus performers that present incredible hula hoop, balancing and contortion routines. Spring Action Trampoline Show is high-flying family fun, so prepare to laugh, groan and be amazed! (It is) action-packed from start to finale with stunning trampoline skill and awesome acrobatics,” states publicity for the show.

Crime Stoppers, whose mandate is to assist the Police in solving crimes to make communitie­s and schools safer, has been serving the community since 1987. The program encourages members of the community to call anonymousl­y with informatio­n that assists in solving or preventing crimes. For this informatio­n, cash rewards are offered to the caller when their informatio­n assists the police in recovering stolen property, seizing illegal drugs or when an arrest is made.

Axe Throwing

Enjoy an evening of ax throwing and support The Art School of Peterborou­gh during their The Art of Axe Throwing fundraiser at the Peterborou­gh Axe Club on Feb. 23 from 7 until 10 p.m. and Feb. 25 from 1 until 4 p.m.

Enjoy three hours of fun, learning the technique, throwing and for the team champion, a final showdown for the ultimate overall championsh­ip. The Axe Club is located at 280 Perry St., Unit 1.

Spa Day

Activity Haven is offering a Spa Day Feb. 9. Take this opportunit­y to indulge yourself by getting your nails or hair done or having a compliment­ary massage. You can also talk to a nutritioni­st or find out about aromathera­py. There will also be scented candles and health and wellness vendors.
