Vitarelli scores four goals in loss
Peterborough’s Cory Vitarelli scored four goals Saturday night in a 16-14 Rochester Knighthawks loss to the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday night at the Rochester Blue Cross Arena.
Fellow Peterborough Laker Matt Vinc took the loss in net for Rochester.
Rochester fell to 2-5 on the season while the Bandits moved into an East Division second-place tie with the Toronto Rock at 4-3.
Dickson scores four goals
TORONTO — Peterborough Laker Curtis Dickson scored four goals and two assists as the Calgary Roughnecks used a big fourth quarter to beat the Toronto Rock 16-8 on Saturday night in National Lacrosse League action.
Riley Lowen and Dane Dobbie had hat tricks for Calgary (2-5), which scored nine unanswered goals to finish the game. Wesley Berg and Peterborough Laker Holden Cattoni both struck twice with Tyson Bell and Garrett McIntosh also chipping in.
Rob Hellyer scored a hat trick for the Rock (4-3) with Latrell Harris, Tom Schreiber, Challen Rogers, Peterborough Laker Adam Jones and Brett Hickey rounding out the attack.
Christian Del Bianco made 47 saves for the win in net as Nick Rose kicked out 35-of-49 shots in defeat.
The Roughnecks were 3 for 5 on the power play and Toronto scored once on three opportunities.
Six-point night for Church
DENVER — Robert Church had a hat trick and added three assists to lead the Saskatchewan Rush past the Colorado Mammoth 13-10 on Friday in National Lacrosse League action.
Ben McIntosh and Matthew Dinsdale had a pair of goals and two assists each for Saskatchewan (6-1), which scored three unanswered goals in the fourth quarter. Ryan Keenan had four goals and an assist, while Matt Hossack and Chris Corbeil added singles.
Evan Kirk made 39 saves for the win.
Stephen Keogh led Colorado (4-2) with three goals and three assists. Ryan Benesch had a hat trick and two assists and Jacob Ruest scored and tacked on four assists. Zack Greer, Joey Cupido and Eli McLaughlin had goals as well.
Dillon Ward stopped 32-of-44 shots for the Mammoth.
The Rush were 3 for 5 on the power play and Colorado was 2 for 5 with the man advantage.
Knight scores winner
SASKATOON — Curtis Knight tied the game in the third quarter before winning it in the fourth as the Saskatchewan Rush beat the Vancouver Stealth 11-9 on Saturday night in National Lacrosse League play.
Robert Church, Ryan Keenan, Mark Matthews and Ben McIntosh all struck twice for the Rush (7-1). Mike Messenger also chipped in and Tyler Carlson stopped 39 shots.
Logan Schuss led Vancouver (1-7) with four goals and Joel McCready added a pair. Rhys Duch, Brandon Goodwin and Tony Malcom had the others.
Eric Penney kicked out 39-of-50 shots in defeat.
Saskatchewan converted on all three of its power play chances while the Stealth were 2 for 4.
