New owner takes over Peachy Keene Cafe

- PAT MARCHEN SPECIAL TO THE EXAMINER KeeneNews@nexicom.net

There’s a new chef in town and she’s already putting Keene on the map. The 2018 Kawarthas Northumberland Self-Guided Butter Tart Tour map, that is. Red Seal chef Cassandra Mogelin has taken over Peachy Keene Café, and while providing good home cooking seven days a week, she has a created a butter tart that is sure to attract connoisseurs from afar. The Peachy Keene butter tart capitalizes on the name of the café at the four corners of Keene and is made with caramelized peach and peach schnapps. Mogelin has made a few physical changes in the restaurant, but the big reveal will be today (Mon., March 5) when the new menu makes its debut. Peachy Keene is open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, except Friday when it is open for dinner until 7 p.m., and Sunday, when it opens at 8 a.m.
