Timbermen lose four in row

-

OHSWEKEN – In a battle for playoff positioning, the Peterborough Timbermen were downed 13-7 by the St. Catharines ShockWave on Saturday night at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Oshweken. The loss, combined with a win by the Oshawa Outlaws on Saturday, drops the Timbermen into sixth place in the Arena Lacrosse League with two regular season games remaining.

They trail the Outlaws by two points and are ahead of the lastplace Six Nations Snipers by two points.

The Timbermen have now lost four games in a row, but, regardless of their final position, will still make the playoffs.

With only half of the usual defensemen were available for Saturday’s game, the Timbermen dressed more forwards, an unusual move in lacrosse as teams focus more on stacking their back end. Cam Garlin played out the back door.

Chris Attwood had three goals and an assist for the Timbermen. Joel Matthews had a goal and two assists and Brodie Tutton had the other Peterborough goal.

Fred Hartley had two assists and Joe Wasson, Zack Thompson and Blake Kenny each had single assists.

Tim Bergin, the 2017 Timbermen captain, rejoined the team.

The Timbermen face the Toronto Monarchs on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, a makeup for a game that was postponed in February due to weather conditions.
