Creating a ripple effect in Peterborough and area

- CAROLINE MCCONNELL

The Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group, an Ontario-based home and auto insurance company donated $547,000 to charities across the province in 2017, with $397,300 of those funds donated through their CARE (Create a Ripple Effect) program. The Osteoporosis Society received $1,500, and Junior Achievement was awarded $3,450.

“Here at The Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group, we think of the CARE program as our way to get actively involved in the great causes and organizations in the Ontario towns that we serve,” said Tim Shauf, President and CEO of the Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group. “We think it’s important to do our part in sustaining and promoting local organizations that provide critical support to members of these communities. We hope that these year-round donations make a difference in the lives of people across the province.”

Commonwealth also donated an additional $150,000 to historical organizations throughout the Province as part of Canada 150th celebrations. Lang Pioneer Village and Farm Museum, in Lang received $30,000 through this program.
