PDFMA launches new sign program

- STUART HARRISON Special to The Examiner

The Peterborough and District Farmers’ Market Association recently introduce their muchanticipated signage program. The new signs are designed for everyone who is a vendor at the market, from farmers to winemakers, artisans, bakers, to the crafters and others.

Consumers can now identify the origin of produce and products under four distinct signs; We Grow where The Farmer or Vendor grows 100 per cent of the produce offered, We Support where The Farmer or Vendor does not grow, raise or produce the product but supports Ontario agriculture, We Raise where The Farmer or Vendor raises 100 per cent of the product, and We Produce where The Farmer or Vendor produces 100 per cent of the product.

The market is stressing that this is a soft launch and that vendors are also required to identify the location of their business or farm, and encouraged to use supplemental signage for programs like Kawartha Choice, Foodland Ontario, and the Farmers Markets Ontario’s My Pick program.

I hope everyone will give this new program a chance to work. Visit peterboroughfarmersmarket.com
