Indian River Band headlines Lakefield fundraiser

The Indian River Band will perform at the Lakefield Legion at 7:30 p.m. on April 14. The Legion is located at 10 Nicholls St. and tickets will cost $15 each. There will be a raffle, cash bar, and snacks.

This is a fundraiser to support medical expenses for Maureen Boyes and her family. Tickets are available by phoning 705-8757990.

Easter weekend

The Easter Bunny will return to Village Dental Centre, located at 57 Queen St. in Lakefield, on April 2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be free photos, cookies, beverages and a prize raffle. All ages are welcome.

Abbeyfield House

There will be a gala fundraiser in support of Abbeyfield House Lakefield at 7 p.m. on April 23 at the Selwyn Outreach Centre, located at 2686 Lakefield Road. The Cory Gleision Choir will be performing with Rhythm and Grace and the Duketow Family.

Tickets will cost $20 in advance, $25 at the door and $15 for students with ID. Tickets can be purchased in advance online at www.eventbrite.ca, or from the following businesses: Kawartha Home Hardware (24 Queen St. in Lakefield), Happenstan­ce (44 Queen St. in Lakefield), Maars Music (360 George St. North in Peterborou­gh), The UK Shoppe (91 George St. N. in Peterborou­gh), and Long and McQuade (129 Aylmer St. N. in Peterborou­gh).

Survivors Abreast

Join the Survivors Abreast Team for a fun night of general knowledge trivia in support of their trip to the Internatio­nal Beast Cancer Dragon Boat Festival in Florence, Italy in July 2018.

It will be held at the Lakefield Legion, located at 10 Nichols St. from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on April 6. Doors will open at 7 p.m. The cost is $120 for a team (maximum 6 players) or $20 for singles. The winning team will get their registrati­on money back. There will be snacks and an open bar. Historical Society

The Lakefield Historical Society will hold its first spring meeting of the year at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Lakefield Legion Branch #77, at 10 Nicholls St.

It will be a “Living History” evening, where there will be conversati­on with long time Lakefield resident Fred Wilson. He will share some of his memories of the village and his time with CNR. It will be an interestin­g and informativ­e evening so come along and bring a friend.

Free Income Tax Clinics

There will be free income tax clinics for individual­s with income less than $30,000 per year and families with income less than $40,000 per year. The clinics will be on these dates:

April 6 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Community Care Lakefield, located at 40 Rabbit St.

April 27 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 3:30 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, located at the corner of Regent and Queen Streets in Lakefield.
