Minor AAA Petes win silver medal
The Fitzsimmons Towing and Repair Minor Atom AAA Petes won a silver medal at the OMHA Championship Tournament on the weekend.
In Game 1, the Petes defeated the Oakville Rangers 5-2. Colin Fitzgerald had a goal and four assists while single goals went to Hayden Addison, Declan Ready, Jacob McMahon and Ryan Chamberlain. Assists went to Chamberlain, Ready and Addison with two each.
In Game 2, the Petes defeated the host Central Ontario Wolves 3-2. Fitzgerald and Ready had a goal and assist while Chamberlain scored the winner. Aiden Stabler recorded an assist. In Game 3, the Petes were defeated by the Barrie Colts 6-0. The Petes played 68 games this season and this marked the only game all year they were shutout.
In Game 4, the Petes tied Halton Hills Hurricanes 2-2. Fitzgerald and Kellar Kelusky scored with Chamberlain adding two assists.
Single assists went to McMahon and Evan Healey. The tie earned the Petes a spot in the gold medal game.
In the OMHA Championship game the Petes spotted Barrie a 4-0 lead before battling back to make it 4-2 after two periods. The Colts prevailed 6-2.
Fitzgerald had a goal and an assist while Addison also scored. Assists went to Ready and McMahon. The Petes were backstopped with solid goaltending all season from Morgan Hyndman and Lewis Chatten.
The OMHA Silver Medal wraps up a very successful season for the club. The team won the Pat Larock Memorial Tournament championship in September.
A month later, they were finalists at the Jr. Canadians Cup Tournament losing a 3-2 final to the top-ranked Toronto Jr Canadians.
The team recorded an overall record of 46-16-6.
