Easter Seals Telethon returns Sunday
The annual Easter Seals Telethon will be broadcast live on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. airing on CHEX TV and TVCogeco.
For 46 years the Telethon has been entertaining and informing viewers while raising essential funds for children and youth with physical disabilities as part of the annual fundraising and awareness campaign.
“Money raised this year will be used to help families in our region who are applying for funding for mobility assistant equipment, such as wheelchairs, walkers, van lifts, ramps and braces and sending kids to fully accessible camp,” says Coralie Jacobs, senior development officer.
This year’s goal is $80,000. During the broadcast there will be live interviews, along with visits by Easter Seals families, local celebrities and radio hosts including Stu Harrison, Graham Hart, Mike Melnik, Teresa Kazsuba and more. This year’s ambassador is Kaydance Lane, 8, who loves horseback riding, skiing, and watching hockey and baseball.
“Last year was Kaydance’s first trip to Easter Seals Camp Merrywood. She went for five days all by herself and loved it. This year, she will be going alone for 10 days,” continues Jacobs. “We have a new Junior Host this year, Tai Young, an Easter Seals Ambassador who will be interviewing our long-time hosts and asking about how they got in-
volved with Easter Seals.”
Donations can be made anytime at www.eastersealstelethon.org/ peterborough, or you can make a pledge during the Telethon on April 8.
