If you have celiac disease then you should make sure you’re reading labels all the time, even when it comes to bath and body products. Many of them contain things like barley extracts and wheat proteins.

These personal care products can definitely be made without these ingredients, but that’s going to take many emails and many calls from concerned consumers.

In the meantime, more and more products are noting on the label that they’re gluten-free. The market is changing for the better all the time.

You can also take matters into your own hands and make some of your own personal care products. It’s super easy, and much easier than you might think.

Homemade products also make great gifts for friends and families.

Today I’m sharing my recipe for homemade body scrub.

You can get most of the ingredients for this scrub locally. I store my homemade products in mason jars or recycled containers. As for the essential oils called for in this recipe, I only use doTERRA’s essential oils for me and my family. They’re the best quality essential oils on the market.

If you want more of this type of do-ityourself recipe, I’m teaching an essential oil and DIY class at Brianna Gosselin’s Art Studio on April 25. Email me at maggiesavage.com if you want more information. I’m also doing an online webinar tonight. Again, you can email me for more information.

This recipe is great for softening dry winter skin (hands, elbows, and feet). Your skin will be ready for Spring weather in no time!

Homemade Citrus Body Scrub

1 cup fine sugar

¼ cup grapeseed carrier oil (not the cooking kind)

5-10 drops of doTERRA’s wild orange essential oil

2 tablespoons jojoba oil

2 tablespoons liquefied coconut oil Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and then transfer to a cute container and label.
