Discussion aims to get women involved in politics
An event aimed at encourging women in the Peterborough area to get more political will take place later this month, ahead of the May 1 opening day of nominations for the Oct. 22 municipal election.
Cultivating Change – Engaging Women in Political Action is a free event taking place April 26 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Ashburnham Reception Centre at 840 Armour Rd.
It’s a non-partisan event and open to all.
Organizers say its goal is “to inspire others to get involved in local issues that matter to them and their families and understand the change that can happen when women work together.”
Selwyn Township Mary Smith, Laridae Communications consultant Lauren Hunter and former Cambridge city council municipal candidate Gail Moorhouse will take part in a panel discussion at the event, followed by a question and answer period.
Information will also be shared at the event on campaign organization, networking and experience sharing.
