The Peterborough Wolverines will be facing some new regular season opponents as they enter their eighth season in the Ontario Football Conference starting in May.

Some new teams have entered the OFC in the off-season after the demise of another Ontario summer league.

The only repeat teams the Wolverines will face in the Ramsay Conference from previous years are the Huronia Stallions from Barrie, the Toronto Jr. Argos and the Sudbury Gladiators.

The OFC now has 53 teams entered in three divisions: Bantams (12-14), the Jr. Varsity (1516) and the Sr. Varsity (17-19).

All three Peterborough teams will begin the regular season on the May 26 and 27 weekend, all against Scarborough.

The Bantam and Jr. Varsity Wolverines have a bye week June 30 while the Sr. Varsity bye week is July 14.

The playoffs will begin July 28 with the conference semifinals that will involve the top four teams in each division (fourth at first and third at second).

The two winners will meet at the top seed’s home field for the Ramsay Conference Championship on Aug. 4.

The Ramsay Conference Champions (East) will meet the Dittmer Conference Champions (West) for the overall OFC Championship on the OFC Champ Day scheduled for Aug. 11 at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre in Brantford.

The Wolverines have concluded their tryouts and each team has begun practising and preparing to open the OFC season on the May 26-27 weekend.

The Jr. Varsity Wolverines won the Ontario championship last season while the Sr. Varsity Wolverines reached the finals, losing to the Toronto Jr. Argos.
