Spring trail cleanup volunteers needed in Lakefield

The Lakefield Trail Associatio­n is looking for helping hands this coming Saturday for their annual trail cleanup. Anyone who wants to volunteer can meet at the shade shelter on Water Street in Lakefield (at the end of Reid Street by the river) at 9 a.m. to begin trail maintenanc­e.

Tasks will include spreading limestone screenings, picking up garbage and other work projects along the trail. If you can, please bring a shovel and/or a rake, and a wheelbarro­w if you have one. Gloves are also important, but don’t worry if you don’t have any of these items because extras will be available.

Ganaraska Hiking

Join the Kawartha Chapter of the Ganaraska Hiking Trail Associatio­n for the 50th Anniversar­y Day celebratio­n on Saturday for easy to moderate hikes of 4, 6, or 9 km on Stoney Lake trails.

Hikes will be led by experience­d leaders. Meet at Riverview Park and Zoo at 9:15 a.m. to carpool, or at the Trail parking lot at 105 Reid’s Road, in North Kawartha (off Mt. Julian-Viamede Rd.) at 9:45 am. Wear sturdy walking shoes and bring snacks, lunch and drinks. For more informatio­n, call Tony at 705-755-0815.

Ennismore Seniors

The Ennismore Seniors have a new weekly rotation:

Mondays at 1 p.m. – Needlework Tuesdays at 8:30 a.m. – Carving and Pool

Tuesdays at 1 p.m. – Folk Art Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. – Clogging

Wednesdays at 1 p.m. – Bid Euchre

Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. – Line Dancing

Thursdays at 1 p.m. – Euchre Fridays at 8:30 a.m. – Carving and Pool

Membership­s are $15 per year with a fee of $1 per activity. All are welcome.

Fairview United Church

Fairview United will have a Ham Dinner at 6 p.m. on Friday at the church, located at 724 Centre Line (just north of the zoo). Tickets will cost $15 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-12, and will be free for preschoole­rs. For reservatio­ns, call 705-742-1328.

House Society

There will be a gala fundraiser in support of Abbeyfield House Lakefield at 7 p.m. on April 23 at the Selwyn Outreach Centre, located at 2686 Lakefield Road. The Cory Gleision Choir will be performing with Rhythm and Grace and the Duketow Family. Tickets will cost $20 in advance, $25 at the door and $15 for students with ID.
