Major Atom AA Petes win OHF title
The Peterborough FCI Windows Major Atom AA Petes won the Peterborough Hockey Association its first Ontario Hockey Federation championship Sunday afternoon in North Bay.
The Major Atom AA Petes shut out London 4-0 in the finals, finishing the tournament with a 5-1 record.
The tournament features the four OHF association champions — OMHA, GTHL, NOHA and Minor Hockey Alliance — plus the host. It only takes place in major years.
Peterborough opened the tournament with a 4-1 win over North Bay and a 2-0 shutout of London on Friday, then lost 4-3 to Leaside Saturday.
The Major Atom AA Petes edged Timmins 4-3 in their fourth game Saturday night.
The Petes faced Timmins again in the semifinals Sunday, winning 2-1, advancing to the championship final, a 4-0 win over London.
