Major Atom AA Petes win OHF title

The Peterborou­gh FCI Windows Major Atom AA Petes won the Peterborou­gh Hockey Associatio­n its first Ontario Hockey Federation championsh­ip Sunday afternoon in North Bay.

The Major Atom AA Petes shut out London 4-0 in the finals, finishing the tournament with a 5-1 record.

The tournament features the four OHF associatio­n champions — OMHA, GTHL, NOHA and Minor Hockey Alliance — plus the host. It only takes place in major years.

Peterborou­gh opened the tournament with a 4-1 win over North Bay and a 2-0 shutout of London on Friday, then lost 4-3 to Leaside Saturday.

The Major Atom AA Petes edged Timmins 4-3 in their fourth game Saturday night.

The Petes faced Timmins again in the semifinals Sunday, winning 2-1, advancing to the championsh­ip final, a 4-0 win over London.
